the news that FirstGroup has won the franchise to operate the West Coast Mainline, promising "cheaper fares, more services and improved stations" must have left the company's long-suffering bus passengers bemused, if not angry.

We have seen fares double in Glasgow since First began operating the buses, while services have been cut. Many of Glasgow's main arteries, such as Cathcart Road, Maryhill Road and Govan Road, have sparse services while other areas, including Liddesdale Road in Milton, no longer have any buses.
