The Fox and Hounds

South Street

Houston

Renfrewshire

What is it: When the Wengal family started the Fox and Hounds in 1978 they wanted to create a quality pub and restaurant with fine Scottish foods, real ale and a warm welcome. The family still runs the establishment which has won numerous awards and now has its own brewery. The listed building itself dates back to 1779 and looks every part the classic village pub. The interior is typically traditional with the occasional piece of taxidermy, dark wood furniture and pub bric-a-brac. It is a big venue with two bars and the restaurant is upstairs.
