MORE than one-fifth of child protection orders issued in the last year were for babies less than three weeks old, according to latest figures.
The number of orders issued for children rose for the fourth consecutive year, increasing by 15% from 678 in 2010/11 to 781 in 2011/12.
Of these, 166 (21.3%) were aged under 20 days and 383 (49%) were aged under two years, figures from the Scottish Children's Reporter Administration (SCRA) showed.
