Former media mogul Conrad Black was released from a US jail yesterday after serving 37 months for defrauding investors.

Black – who once owned the Daily Telegraph, the Chicago Sun-Times and the Jerusalem Post – had been sentenced to more than six years in prison after his 2007 conviction in Chicago.

He was released on bail two years later to pursue an appeal that was partially successful.
