A MEDAL hopeful in the London 2012 Paralympic Games has secured six As and two Bs in his school exams.

Andrew Mullen, from East Renfrewshire, started the day at 5.30am in the pool in preparation for representing Team GB later this month.

After his two-hour training session Andrew, a pupil at Mearns Castle High School, in Newton Mearns, headed home to await the arrival of the postman. With his parents, Katriona and Henry, sister Eilidh, 13, and brother Euan, eight, beside him Andrew found he had As in biology, chemistry, English, maths, French and modern studies and Bs in administration and product design.
