FESTIVAL-GOERS attending events at the Pleasance, Teviot and Potterrow in Edinburgh will have all their food leftovers and packaging recycled and turned into fertiliser and gas, thanks to a new scheme.
More than 25 tonnes of food waste and mountains of food packaging are generated every year by visitors and, until now, it has been sent to landfill.
Thanks to the use of new compostable Vegware cups, glasses, boxes and cutlery, visitors will be able to dump their leftover food and its packaging into the same bin to all be collected and made into combustible gas and fertiliser.
