A health board has issued a warning to heroin users after a patient was confirmed as having contracted the deadly anthrax bacteria.
NHS Lanarkshire said an injecting drug user is being treated for the disease at one of its hospitals. The patient was said to be in a critical but stable condition.
The health board believes a contaminated batch of heroin could be circulating in Lanarkshire and elsewhere in Scotland.
