STROKE survivors are being denied the chance to make the best recovery because of a lack of post-hospital care, according to a report that claims many patients "feel abandoned" when they return home.

A survey published today of more than 2000 stroke survivors across the UK, including hundreds of Scots, found that weaknesses in after-care and poor co-ordination between health and social care services was limiting their rehabilitation, with families and carers often left to take on the responsibility.
