Scotland's regulator for care workers has warned that organisations must continue to give full references for former employees who work with vulnerable people.

Anna Fowlie, chief executive of the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), was responding to concerns about the legal liabilities facing employers when they provide unfavourable references about former members of staff.

But there are also dangers in "bare bones" references which may not help spot care workers who might be a danger to vulnerable people, and might make it harder for good workers to find new jobs.
