A HELICOPTER firm grounded more aircraft yesterday after an early investigation into one of its helicopters that ditched in the North Sea last week found a fault in its gearbox.
Bond Offshore Helicopters extended its suspension of Eurocopter Super Puma helicopters from the EC225 model, one of which ditched around 25 miles off the coast of Aberdeen on Thursday, to include the AS332L2 model.
The move comes after an initial Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) examination of the EC225 that went down while carrying 12 passengers and two crew showed it suffered a crack to a gearbox shaft.
