COMEBACK rockers the Libertines will headline this year's Tin the Park music festival, organisers have revealed.

The English guitar band, fronted by hellraiser Pete Doherty, are the first act announced for this year's bill which will see the festival relocate to its new home at Strathallan Castle in Perthshire.

The 1000-acre estate will host the three-day music event for the first time from July 10-12.

The Libertines appearance at Scotland's biggest music festival will round off a successful 12 months for the band, which reunited last summer with a series of live gigs - including two shows at Glasgow's Barrowlands - before going on to wow a sellout crowd at Hyde Park.

The band had achieved critical with their debut and second album, but split up in 2004. They briefly reformed in 2010 before last year's more permanent comeback.

Festival Director Geoff Ellis said: "The Libertines are a truly iconic British band, revered as cult heroes by a generation of music fans and adored by the Scottish crowd. They chose Scotland as the destination for their live return on home soil last June, and raised the roof of the Barrowlands with two exhilarating shows.

"We can't wait to welcome them back in what is a historic year for T in the Park, as we take up residency at our beautiful new home, Strathallan Castle. It's going to be a very special year for T in the Park, and we can't wait to welcome you all to Strathallan."

T in the Park 2015 tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday February 27.
