STRATHCLYDE Police will be ready to take over Olympic security at Hampden after private security contractors were unable to train enough workers, it was claimed last night.
The force will take over security duties at eight football matches, with the first game, a women's tie between USA and France, kicking off on July 25.
Strathclyde Police Federation met with the force's Olympic planning committee last week after the row broke about G4S's failure to meet its commitments on security staffing for the Olympics.
