POLITICIANS have questioned the academic rigour of Scottish school qualifications as pupils wake up to record exam pass rates.

Latest results show Higher pass rates have increased by 1.8 percentage points in the past year to nearly 77% – the sixth consecutive annual rise. Advanced Higher and Standard Grade pass rates have also increased. A Tory spokeswoman said employers "find it hard to understand how there can be a continuous rate of improvement".
