Festival-goers are ditching their tents and heading home today after one of the most successful T in the Park festivals in recent years.

The 20th anniversary event was rounded off by top American band The Killers – the culmination of three days of partying in blazing sunshine at the tail-end of Scotland's heatwave.

Other stars on stage yesterday included Rita Ora, Earth Wind and Fire, Azealia Banks and Labrinth.

Temperatures dipped to 21˚C from Friday's high of 26˚C but it was still a festival to remember for revellers.

Rachel Tennent, 23, from Edinburgh, said: "The weather has been absolutely gorgeous and I've loved the atmosphere. I loved Rita Ora. She was as good as Rihanna.

"The whole weekend's been fantastic but I would only come back if they could promise this weather again."

More than 1000 people were treated by the on-site medical teams, double 2012's figure.

Organisers blamed the queue of people wanting medical help on a failure to keep hydrated by drinking enough water or using sunscreen.

The festival hosted 85,000 people each day and a record 35,000 campers,

Hollywood star Gerard Butler was spotted in the crowds watching headliner Rihanna, Scotland's Deacon Blue, The Fratellis, The View and Frightened Rabbit as well as rapper Snoop Dogg, American pop star Kesha and X Factor star Diana Vickers.

There were 59 arrests for mainly minor offences with Superindendent Rick Dunkerley saying conduct had been generally positive.

Festival director Geoff Ellis urged people not to litter the site with unwanted tents, as they traditionally do, but he added: "It's been an incredible year – what a way to celebrate our 20th."
