COMMONWEALTH Games judoka star Kimberley Renicks has been floored by a tattooist's blunder.

Renicks, 26, who won Scotland's first gold which helped the team to fourth place in the medal's table at Glasgow 2014, had the event's name spelt wrongly on her hip in a grammatical error. The 26-year-old, from Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, is the latest athlete to permanently ink a reminder of her achievements on her body.

However, a Glasgow tattooist split the word Commonwealth in two, leaving her with "Common wealth".

Renicks said: "When I first looked at it I thought 'Oh no, it's got a gap' but it's not that bad and it's not like it's missing letters. I was a little bit surprised because I knew Commonwealth was one word but I thought it was just the style of writing I picked."

Renicks said she got the tattoo in the shape of her medal on her hip just a week after winning gold, but decided to have it coloured in the style of the Games logo.

The error occurred when she returned to have the offending word added three weeks later.
