A laboratory revolution means Scotland will have some of the most up-to-date facilities in the world, according to the country's largest health board.

A state-of-the-art £90 million lab at the Southern General Hospital, which has amalgamated five other sites from the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area, is now complete.

The modernisation project continues at Glasgow Royal Infirmary (GRI) with the refurbishment of the University Tower, which began earlier this year. Further work will update analysing equipment. The refurbishment is due for completion by mid-2013.
