A 43 year-old man has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal for road traffic offences relating to video footage of a lorry nearly colliding with a car on the A9 in Easter Ross earlier this week.

 

Fruit and veg merchant Jim McLaughlin was heading to work in Tain from his home in Inverness when he had he narrowly avoided being hit by a timber lorry at the Tomich Junction near Invergordon which is a local accident blackspot.

He had to pull off the road on to the verge to avoid being hit. But the whole incident was recorded on a camera on his dashboard. He posted his film on You Tube attracting tens of thousands of viewers.

Police investigated the incident and have now confirmed, they have tracked down the driver,. A spokeswoman added "Police would like to remind road users to be vigilant when driving, especially when approaching or negotiating busy junctions. "
