TOYS R Us has pulled from its shelves four collectible action figures based on characters of the TV series Breaking Bad after a campaign by a US mother.

The dolls are based on the series about high school chemistry teacher Walter White, played by Bryan Cranston, who turns into a crystal meth dealer, and his sidekick Jesse Pinkman, played by Aaron Paul.

The 6" toys have a detachable bag of cash along with a bag of methamphetamines.

Toys R Us said the figures were being removed immediately from the store's website and shelves. It said in a statement: "Let's just say, the action figures have taken an indefinite sabbatical."

The retailer had maintained the figures were sold in limited quantities in the adult action figure area of its stores.

Susan Schrivjer, from Fort Myers, Florida, launched a petition on change.org last week, demanding the firm stop selling the dolls.
