The Scottish Liberal Democrats have called on the Scottish Government to focus on effective com-munity care for mental health patients when they leave hospital, after 300 people were readmitted within a month of being discharged last year.
The party's research based on official figures showed 1331 cases fell into that category – almost one-tenth of the total number of mental health discharges in 2011.
Party leader Willie Rennie said: "This cycle of readmissions is damaging for the wellbeing of mental health patients and their families and puts further pressure on the NHS."
