THE UK Government's failure to include the Catholic Church's most senior leader in a delegation to the Vatican was raised by First Minister Alex Salmond during his talks with the Prime Minister.

Mr Salmond raised the issue after Cardinal Keith O'Brien, president of the Bishops' Conference in Scotland, was snubbed by Westminster on a trip to mark the 30th anniversary of full diplomatic relations with the Holy See, despite being Britain's most senior Catholic.
