CHANCELLOR George Osborne will cause "immeasurable damage" to the economy unless he changes course, his predecessor Alistair Darling warned yesterday.

In an open letter to a Sunday newspaper, the Labour MP claimed Mr Osborne and the Bank of England had both "given up on any plan for growth".

He called for action to promote growth and added: "Your policies since 2010 simply haven't worked, you need another plan – call it Plan B, call it whatever you like. But unless you do something now, it will be years before we recover."
