A LABOUR bid to block a pension hike for Scots NHS workers was described as "gesture politics" yesterday.
Labour countered that an SNP claim that the increase could be avoided in an independent Scotland was equally flawed, as Glasgow MSP Drew Smith pushed for the move at Holyrood's Health and Sport Committee.
Mr Smith sought to block a regulation forcing through the Westminster change making NHS staff raise their pension contributions by up to 2.4%.
