Labour began its latest by-election campaign pledging a "crusade for young people, a crusade for people right across Corby".
The town was once known as Little Scotland because of the number of steel workers who moved there for work and thousands of Scots still live in the Northamptonshire town, something of which Labour said they were keenly aware.
