Pay plan may cost £10bn every year

THE UK economy could lose almost £10 billion a year if controversial plans for regional public sector pay go ahead, a report says.

A study for the TUC found no evidence the wages of teachers, nurses and dinner ladies was preventing local firms from hiring staff.

The Coalition Government said its local pay rates plan could help kick-start the economy.
