HOLYROOD ministers planned to use a Whitehall department for an Olympic engagement because their own £400,000 venue would not be open in time.
The Scottish Government booked a room in Dover House, the London headquarters of the Scotland Office, for a meeting with Australia's sports minister Kate Lundy.
It has been accused of wasting large sums of money by snubbing the mansion and spending £25,000 a day of taxpayers' money on hiring an Army and Navy Club in Pall Mall.
