THE most disadvantaged Scots, the poor and disabled, will lose hundreds of millions of pounds when the abolition of housing benefit comes into force, a report has claimed.

The social tenants will suffer as a result of the UK Government's welfare reforms, according to the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA).

Housing benefit will be phased out from April 2013 and replaced by the new universal credit, a single payment that will replace the current range of working age benefits.
