COMPANIES fear they may have to move their headquarters if Scotland chooses independence, a senior business leader told peers yesterday.
John Cridland, director general of the CBI, said that his membership was concerned about the issue.
The financial sector was particularly mindful of RBS's £45 billion bailout from the UK Government in 2008, he told members of the House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee. His comments follow reports that last month the chairman of RBS Sir Philip Hampton warned shareholders that while there were no current plans to move from Scotland, "large institutions tend to be in large economies".
