THE weather was again the winner as this rain-ravaged domestic season returned to Scottish Cup action yesterday.

Only three of the 16 group matches survived but all of them had a significant bearing on their respective groups.

Arbroath breathed new life into Group H with a comprehensive 168-run win over SMRH at Lochlands. The home side had been reduced to 51-5 after 15 overs, but a stand of 108 between Calvin Burnett and Greg Peal got them back on track. Burnett, a rising star for the Saltires, top-scored with 71, including 10 boundaries, while Peal chipped in with 67.
