IT has been a momentous week for the sport in Scotland after the national side's T20 victory over Bangladesh.How- ever, a consistent party line was trotted out in the aftermath of that 34-run triumph in Voorburg when, first, captain Gordon Drummond and then coach Pete Steindl said the result must be regarded not as the culmination of recent efforts but the beginning of a successful new era.

Ryan Flannigan is happy to buy into that ethos. At 24, the Grange batsman readily admits to being one of a group of emerging players for whom the time has come to convert potential into achievement. If the Kelso-born player is not quite the finished article, he certainly has unfinished business in this season's CB40 campaign which continues against the Welsh Dragons (aka Glamorgan) at the Swalec Stadium this afternoon.
