Stuart Broad, the England captain, paid tribute to Alex Hales, his Nottinghamshire team-mate, following his rousing innings against the West Indies in the NatWest International Twenty20 at Trent Bridge.
Hales announced his arrival on the international scene but fell just one run short of a deserved century – still the highest score by an England batsman in this format – while Ravi Bopara's 59 ensured t Windies unable to weather Hales he hosts bettered the West Indies' 172 for four.
