THE Europa League had already seemed unpalatable to Manchester United, and the injury to Antonio Valencia is unlikely to have warmed the Old Trafford club to the competition.

The United winger has been ruled out for up to four weeks after injuring a hamstring during his side's win over Ajax last night.

Having come on as a substitute in the second half, Valencia lasted just long enough to set up Javier Hernandez for United's second goal – Ashley Young scored their first with a sharp finish. He hobbled off shortly afterwards clutching his hamstring.
