Hearts have invited Rory Boulding in for training with a view to making the striker John McGlynn's first signing.
The Englishman turned down a new contract with Livingston at the end of the season having scored 12 goals.
The 23-year-old was also understood to be interesting Kilmarnock. McGlynn is a keen admirer, though, after Boulding scored a hat trick against his Raith Rovers side in April.
