Jason Denayer has made up his mind that he will leave Celtic and return to Manchester City at the end of the season.

The teenager has impressed during his loan from the Barclays Premier League champions to the extent that he was called into the Belgium squad for the first time earlier this month. Ronny Deila, the Celtic manager, has said he hoped the success of the loan would persuade Denayer and City to extend it into next season as well.

However, the 19-year-old closed the door on that possibility yesterday. "I watched Manchester City play in the Champions League on Tuesday night and I want to be back there next season," he said. "But I don't think about this too much. I prefer to think about the present at Celtic."

Denayer's form convinced Belgium manager Marc Wilmots to call him up for the Euro 2016 qualifier against Andorra. Some established names helped him settle in, including club-mate Vincent Kompany.

"It helps that I know the captain of the Belgian team so well," he said. "Everybody listens to Vincent."
