Ferguson confirms United have offer in for Van Persie

SIR ALEX FERGUSON admitted last night that Manchester United have made a bid for Robin van Persie.

It had been reported earlier that United, Manchester City and Juventus had all made offers for the Arsenal captain.

Ferguson, speaking ahead of his side's pre-season match against Ajax Cape Town in South Africa today, said: "Obviously Arsenal have given out the fact that we've made a bid for him.
