PETER LAWWELL, the Celtic chief executive, has assured supporters he will continue to act in the best interests of their club during a turbulent time for Scottish football.

As Rangers' future hangs in the balance, Lawwell issued a statement on behalf of the Parkhead club stating that their 'full focus and attention' was on the situation, with a vote over the possibility of a newco being allowed into the Clydesdale Bank Premier League a bone of contention for a section of the Celtic support.
