With serial league strugglers East Stirlingshire overwhelming Ayr United last weekend, it was with a feeling of focus rather than formality that Morton walked on to a rain- sodden Ochilview Park.
If there was any glimmer of anxiety in the first division side's minds, however, it didn't show. Morton claimed possession from the kick-off, and soon established a dominance which led to an emphatic victory.
Allan Moore, the Morton manager, watched five dif-ferent players get their names on the scoresheet, and was keen to express his delight at his side's antics up top. "Three of our midfielders scored, and I don't think that's happened since I've been here," noted Moore. "Hopefully we can share the goals about this season, because we were relying on Peter MacDonald a lot last year. With the squad we've got, if we can keep it injury free, we'll be up there."
