Everton last night joined the race to sign Nikica Jelavic, the Rangers striker, before the transfer window closes tomorrow night.
David Moyes, the Barclays Premier League club's manager, has some funds available to add to his squad, having sold Diniyar Bilyaletdinov to Spartak Moscow for an undisclosed fee. Talks between Rangers and Everton were reported to have taken place last night, although no formal bid for the player was made. However, an offer is likely to be submitted today.
