Peter Whiteford and Wallace Booth both made a potentially disastrous start to the European Tour Final Qualifying School on Saturday but still have a chance of making the first cut at PGA Catalunya, Gerona.

Whiteford shot a 66 yesterday, 11 shots better than his first round, and is lying joint 73rd on 143, while Booth fired a 65 - a 15-stroke improvement - and is joint 102nd.

Ross Kellett, with a pair of 70s, is leading Scot in joint 35th place. Scott Henry shares 58th place on 142 (70-72) while Duncan Stewart, after an opening 67, plummeted to joint 73rd place alongside Whiteford after a 76.
