Charles van Commenee, UK Athletics head coach, has admitted one of his biggest regrets should he choose to leave his post will be his failure to lead a revival in British sprinting.

The Dutchman is going on a three-week holiday after the Olympics to consider his future after the hosts failed to meet his own target of eight medals in track and field.

If he does end his four-year reign, despite almost universal calls for him to stay on, the lack of progress made in the sprints will be a source of disappointment.
