Dragonera should have conditions to suit in the Arkle Finance Pipalong Stakes at Pontefract.

Ed Dunlop's filly is one of just a few horses in this line-up who genuinely relishes easy ground, which looks a likely scenario.

She has also shown this season a Listed race is a feasible prospect on the evidence of her fine second in the Warwickshire Oaks last month. The Doyen filly attempted to make all of the running, and would have succeeded were it not for the presence of Set To Music, who is a Pattern-race performer in her own right. Dragonera has often come from off the pace in her races, so it was interesting to see front-running tactics deployed on her last start. Trailblazers often do well at Pontefract, so jockey Paul Mulrennan might be expected to adopt a similar approach here. Although she drops back down to a mile, that might not be a bad thing as the likelihood of testing ground should require excess stamina, of which Dragonera has plenty.
