Laura Bartlett and Emily Maguire's chances of realising their Olympic dream have been given a substantial boost as the two Scots are included in the Great Britain squad selected yesterday by coach Danny Kerry for the VISA International Invitational Tournament, due in London from May 2-6.
The opposition comes in the shape of China, Korea and world No.2 side Argentina, gold medallists at the recent Champions Trophy, who are all Olympic participants.
However, it is perhaps jumping the gun to suggest that Kerry's 18 for this tournament will reflect the final Olympic selection, and he was at pains to confirm this. "The final Olympic team will not necessarily come from this squad. Korea and China will both be in our pool for the Olympic Games, and so there will also be an element of keeping back some aspects of our game."
