Steph Twell has become the first Scot to post an Olympic A standard on the track in 2012 during a competition in the United States.

Twell clocked 15min 15.24sec to place fifth in the 5000 metres at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational meeting at Stanford University. It was comfortably inside the Olympic A standard of 15:20, although adrift of her personal best, and means Twell is now a step closer to London 2012, with the trials in Birmingham in June.
