Andy Titterrell, the 31-year-old former British and Irish Lion and England internationalist hooker, has signed for Edinburgh on a one-year contract from the RFU Championship side Leeds Carnegie.

Titterrell has been brought in as cover for Steven Lawrie, the injured hooker who has been sidelined since December by a knee injury.

Lawrie, who recently signed a two-year contract extension with the capital club, is expected to miss the start of the season and Michael Bradley, Edinburgh's head coach, has brought in the 2006 English Premiership winner to restore the club's depth in the position.
