Motorists face delays when travelling on one of Scotland's busiest motorways when resurfacing work is carried out over the next three weekends.
The roadworks, the first phase of which will begin today, will be in place on sections of the westbound M8 around junctions 10, 11 and 12.
Amey, which is carrying out the work on behalf of Transport Scotland, said delays would be minimal, although they added that two of the junctions are near the Glasgow Fort complex and so shoppers should leave extra time for their journeys.
Traffic management will be in place at junction 11, Stepps Road, from 8pm tonight and the cones will be lifted on Monday morning before the rush hour.
Next weekend the westbound off ramp at junction 12, Cumbernauld Road, will remain closed from 8pm on Friday until the Monday morning. Amey warned that football supporters travelling to and from the Celtic v Falkirk game at Parkhead on August 23 may face delays.
On August 29 the westbound off-slip at junction 10, Glasgow Fort, will be closed from 8pm but the roadworks will be finished by 8am on August 31. Diversions will be in place while the resurfacing work is under way and Amey said the work will be finished by the time of the first Old Firm game at Parkhead on August 31.
Willie Watson, Amey's unit manager in south west Scotland, said: "The works are necessary as the road surface has worn through use.
"There is a clear diversion and road users will be able to access the shops and amenities with very little inconvenience. We have taken into account the increased traffic associated with major football games and have programmed the work to be complete prior to the game beginning."
