Detectives investigating the shooting of a man outside an Edinburgh casino revisited the scene last night in a bid to gather fresh information.

Officers quizzed people at the Gala Maybury Casino in Maybury Road.

The move came a week after Tony DeMarco, 62, was shot in the head outside the casino.

The attack, which happened at around 11.50pm last Tuesday, resulted in the victim being taken to hospital, where he was treated for head injuries.

He is now recovering at home, and assisting police with their inquiries.

Police are still appealing for information to help them in tracking down the culprit, who is described as white, 23 to 25 years old, 5ft 8ins to 5ft 11ins tall, with a skinny build, and wearing a dark coloured baseball cap, and dark-coloured jacket and trousers.

Detective Inspector Robert Deas, who is leading the investigation, said last night's operation was intended to try to "jog the memories of people who may have been in the area last Tuesday night".

"So far we have had a fantastic response from the public but we are always looking for more information that can assist our investigation.

"Anyone who has any information that they think can help us, however unimportant it may seem, is encouraged to come forward," he added.
