BRITAIN's first mainland local television station, Lanarkshire Television, will go on air on April 11, from its base at Hartwood, near Shotts. It will broadcast 24 hours a day on terrestrial television's Channel 67, covering North and South Lanarkshire, with a team of presenters offering local news, chat shows and weather and travel bulletins.

Managing director John MacKenzie said yesterday: ''LTV will cover both local and national issues which directly or indirectly affect the people of Lanarkshire.''
