Mixu Paatelainen yesterday moved to quell the growing concern at Hibernian by adding young forward Steven Pinau to his squad.

The 20-year-old Frenchman arrives on loan from Italian side Genoa as Easter Road strikers Abdessalam Benjelloun and Clayton Donaldson move closer to leaving. Pinau, who has signed for the season and could make his debut against Falkirk on Saturday, comes with a strong pedigree and Paatelainen has been tracking him for a number of months.

"It is always a good sign when a club like Genoa signs you on a five-year contract from someone like Monaco," said Paatelainen of his new boy's recent history. "Steven has already proved that he can score a lot of goals."

Benjelloun, meanwhile, has been in Belgium for talks about a loan move to Charleroi while Donaldson seems certain to depart, with negotiations ongoing with Crewe Alexandra.
