FRASER Walker, who will swim for Britain in the World Student Games in
America and the European Championships in the next few weeks, collected
the Scottish Open championship gold in the 200m medley at the
Commonwealth Pool last night.
Warrender's British record-holder won in 2-09.14 to take the title
from clubmate Paul Latimer.
Euan Stewart had a fine 100m butterfly win in 56.67sec., just 0.27sec.
outside the Commonwealth Games qualifying time.
Alison Sheppard was below her best but just held off the fast
improving Kerry Martin in the 50m free-style by 0.33. The double
Olympian touched in 28.60.
Neil Hudghton retained the 200m breast-stroke by 10 seconds in 2min.
22.56sec., leaving Renfrew's Neil Murdoch and Anglo Ian Edmond in silver
and bronze.
Olympic finalist Ian Wilson won the 1500m free-style, with Carnegie's
Neil Sloan more than half a minute behind, taking silver and retaining
the Scottish national title in 16-28.82.
