Thu May 24-Sun 27, various times, prices and venues, www.fallenangelsclub.com Over the past 20 years, aficionados of country music, bluegrass and America's best singer-songwriters have grown used to a May feast, first through Mayfest's music programme and then through the Americana kaleidoscope that was the Big Big Country festival.

With the sudden death in February of the visionary responsible, Billy Kelly, there was a possibility that all this might come to an end - until Kevin Morris of the estimable Fallen Angels Club stepped in.

Morris, who has quietly assembled a track record in promoting exciting new talents and proven class acts, was determined that Kelly's great work should continue and has programmed a weekend of concerts by way of a tribute, beginning appropriately tonight with the Louisiana-born princess of darkness, Mary Gauthier.

Gauthier, one of innumerable musicians whom Kelly introduced to Scotland, describes the Big Big Country founder as "an angel" and regards his patronage among the significant stepping stones on a career that has taken her to Nashville as a major label recording artist.

Joining Gauthier in a strong programme are the sharp-witted Chicago-based rockabilly singer-guitarist Robbie Fulks (ABC2, Friday), the winsome Suzie Ungerleider, aka Oh Susanna, in a special solo acoustic performance (The Tron, Saturday) and homegrown talents The Sundowns headlining a Scottish Americana showcase at the Arches on Sunday.
