A new quarterly magazine has been launched by the Glasgow-based Herald and Times Group, publishers of the Scottish Farmer, Country Lifestyle Scotland, The Herald, Evening Times, Sunday Herald and the s1 portfolio.
Scottish Walks is a free, quarterly magazine edited by Cameron McNeish, widely regarded as Scotland’s most authoritative and well known walker.
He said: ‘Whether it be climbing the hills, hiking long-distance treks through the glens or taking coastline rambles, Scotland’s spirit-of-place will infuse our readers time and time again, just as it does mine.
"This is the land that forms the bedrock, the foundation of my own passion for wild places. Scottish Walks aims to inspire its readers and will the lay the foundations of such passion in others too."
Distributed throughout November, Scottish Walks is officially launched on Friday November18 and will be Scotland’s largest distributed outdoor magazine, with a print circulation of 50,000 per issue. There will also be a free e-edition which will be available via the website www.scottishwalks.com
The print edition will be distributed free via a targeted, distribution network specifically designed to provide maximum availability for Scottish walkers and market saturation for advertisers. It will include 30,000 copies being made available free throughout Scotland iin 500-plus outlets across the Central Belt and Dundee, such as camping and outdoor shops, army and navy stores, specialist retailers, climbing centres and providers of outdoor activities, as well as city centre hotspots such as leisure centres, gyms, selected cafes and public venues.
Sister newspaper title, the Sunday Herald, will also give away 10,000 copies with its north edition to cover Aberdeen, Inverness and the Highlands and Islands and a further 10,000 copies will be distributed free to walking clubs, hotels, bunkhouses and retailers across Scotland.
